From Skepticism to Scale

By Kinya Kaunjuga

Sometimes, the best medicine for a little skepticism is a good old-fashioned get-together. At Vintagelight Medical Clinic, we’ve seen an amazing transformation that proves you’re never too experienced to try a new way of doing things.

Back in 2024, Lawrence—a Banda Health implementer—set up the clinic’s BandaGo account. However, Simon, who owns and leads the clinic, was a bit traditional. For two years, he was quite cautious, using the system only for minor data entries while keeping the rest of his operations the way he always had.

But at the Banda Health Christmas Party in December 2025, while enjoying the festive spirit, Simon found himself chatting with other clinic owners. He listened as they described how much smoother their days had become—what they called “streamlined operations”—thanks to using the full power of the BandaGo system.

Guests at the Banda Health 2025 Christmas party share a meal and conversation at the Banda Health offices. BandaGo software users—including clinic owners, clinical officers, nurses, and their administrative staff—spent the day together.

The result was a “Christmas Miracle” on paper. Inspired by his peers, Simon returned to Vintagelight determined to embrace the technology in its entirety. As you can see in the graph below, the results were immediate and quite dramatic. The flat line of the previous two years suddenly turns into a massive spike right after the party in December.

This almost 300% jump represents the moment the system finally began reflecting the true, busy volume of patient visits and care the clinic provides every day. It serves as a great reminder that while technology is helpful, it’s the community and shared success of our neighbors that often gives us the confidence to take that next big step.

The graph shown here highlights an almost 300% increase already in recorded activity at Vintagelight Medical Clinic compared to Simon’s initial 2024 entries. This remarkable jump came after he began using BandaGo in full—prompted by hearing testimonials from fellow users at our 2025 Christmas party, who shared how the platform had helped them streamline their clinic management.

The Build in 2026: A Doctor's Wisdom in Every Room

As we look back on the almost million lives touched in 2025, we are already preparing for our most ambitious leap forward. We know that the greatest hurdle in the slums and rural villages we serve is the critical shortage of doctors. Too often, a dedicated nurse or clinical officer are left to manage complex medical cases entirely alone.

This year, we are doing something we have long dreamed of: deploying a sophisticated AI clinical guidance feature within BandaGo. Think of this as “stored wisdom” made accessible at the point of care. For a clinical officer and nurse in a remote outpost or slum, this tool will speed up their patient visit—helping them capture and document the most important information quickly—while acting as a digital mentor, providing real-time, evidence-based guidance to help diagnose and treat patients with the accuracy of a seasoned physician. It ensures that even in a clinic without a doctor, the patient receives “doctor-quality” care.

Your partnership has brought us to this historic threshold. As we move into 2026, we aren’t just improving software; we are ensuring that no patient is ever “too far away” or “too poor” to be treated with the best medical knowledge available.

Will you help us bring this visionary tool to life in 2026?

Thanks to your support, over the years we’ve reached a historic threshold, as shown here. In 2026, we’ll keep improving our software and ensuring that no patient is ever “too far” or “too poor” to receive good-quality care.
