We're excited you're interested in working as an Implementer at Banda Health!

Implementer (Adoption Optimizer) Job Description

Overall goal

To drive the scalable expansion of Banda Health solutions (e.g. BandaGo) by executing the clinic onboarding lifecycle and iteratively optimizing processes to reduce manual intervention. The Implementer serves as an “Adoption Optimizer” who identifies user friction and tests scalable interventions—e.g. UI enhancements, short-form videos, and AI-driven prompts—to ensure BandaGo becomes increasingly intuitive, cost-effective, and easy to adopt with minimal hands-on training by the Banda team.

Key areas of responsibility

1. Client Pipeline Execution and Vetting

  • Execute market outreach and screening to identify and qualify high-potential clinics.
  • Conduct technical readiness assessments to ensure clinic infrastructure aligns with Banda Health requirements.
  • Conduct personnel readiness assessments to ensure the clinic team aligns with Banda Health requirements.
  • Collaborate with the team to refine vetting criteria, ensuring the pipeline focuses on clinics likely to achieve high adoption with low manual support.

2. Onboarding Optimization and Low-Touch Adoption

  • Perform the end-to-end onboarding workflow, focusing on minimizing “time-to-value” through efficient setup and data import.
  • Identify friction points in the onboarding journey where users require heavy manual support and propose alternatives.
  • Develop and test interventions (e.g., in-app AI prompts, short-form videos, or UI feedback) designed to replace traditional manual training and increase user self-sufficiency.

3. Adoption Analysis and “Felt Need” Mapping

  • Maintain regular check-ins with clinics to monitor usage patterns and identify gaps between software utility and the user’s “felt needs.”
  • Act as a primary data-gathering link, documenting specific friction points that prevent clinics from using the tools autonomously.
  • Observe and report on “organic” workarounds developed by clinics that could be integrated into the core product to make it more intuitive for everyone.

4. Product Evolution and Technical Execution

  • Stay up to date with activities of the developer team as well as technical developments relevant to our solutions so as to be a productive counterpart in conversation and planning.
  • Collaborate with the Dev Team to translate field observations into UI/UX experiments and automated prompts that reduce the need for manual support.
  • Test new features and “low-touch” interventions in the field, reporting on their effectiveness in increasing user adoption.

5. Ecosystem Mastery and Change Management

  • Kenya Healthcare Industry Literacy: Proactively learn and stay current on the Kenyan healthcare landscape, including the roles of the Ministry of Health, NHIF/SHIF transitions, and the competitive dynamics of private primary care clinics.
  • Clinical Process Integration: Develop a foundational understanding of clinical workflows (e.g., patient registration, triage, consultation, pharmacy, and billing) to ensure BandaGo configurations support the practical daily needs of medical staff.
  • Applied Project Management: Utilize structured project management principles to manage clinic expectations, track onboarding milestones, and ensure delivery remains on schedule and within scope.
  • Change Management Facilitation: Recognize that software adoption is a human transition; apply basic change management techniques to help clinic staff overcome resistance and move from legacy habits to digital-first workflows.
  • Business Operations Awareness: Gain a working knowledge of the “business of health,” including inventory management and revenue cycle basics, to better understand how Banda Health solutions impact a clinic’s financial health.
  • Contextual Curiosity: Regularly spend time in the “world” of the clinic to observe how local infrastructure, power stability, and patient flow impact the way digital tools are actually used.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field.
  • Professional Experience: Proven track record in software implementation, IT sales, project management, or organizational leadership. This role requires a professional with the maturity to work independently—not a fresh graduate.
  • Technical and Systems Knowledge: Basic understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS) and experience diagnosing technical issues for end-users.
  • Healthcare Industry Context: A strong interest in, or prior exposure to, the Kenyan healthcare sector, including a working knowledge of primary care clinic operations and the local regulatory/insurance landscape.
  • Project & Change Management: Proficiency in project management frameworks (managing timelines, stakeholders, and milestones) and the ability to apply change management principles to guide non-technical users through digital transitions.
  • Operational Fluency & Scalability: A commitment to mastering clinical workflows, UX/UI friction analysis, and data-driven experimentation to support low-touch SaaS adoption models.
  • Iterative “Thinker-Doer” Mindset: A natural tendency to ask “why” a process is slow and “how” it can be simplified, followed by the initiative to build faster, better, and more scalable solutions.
  • Diplomacy & Communication: Highly developed interpersonal skills to navigate clinic hierarchies, provide expert advice to resistant stakeholders, and translate messy field observations into clear suggestions for technical teams.
  • User Empathy & Analytical Persistence: The ability to view software through the eyes of a non-technical health worker while maintaining a “detective” mindset to identify and fix the root causes of adoption barriers.
  • Resilience in Ambiguity: Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where processes are constantly being challenged, tested, and improved.
